Urban Hive was designed by In Cheurl Kim of Archium (http://www.archium.co.kr/ – some more interior pictures can be found under Project – Office – Urban Hive). This is a rare ‘exoskeletal’ exposed concrete structure highrise building in Korea. The exposed concrete facade with 3,800 holes is not just a skin, it’s a 400mm thick structure with diagrid rebars. The 1,050mm diameter holes set in the diagrid make the entire facade much lighter and let air and daylight into the building. This also allows the interior space to have no columns, maximizing usable area.
