Asia Seonsuchon Apartment

Asia Park
Asia Seonsuchon Apartment and Asia Park was built in 1986. Designed by Sung Yong Joh, Ki-hyo Kang, and Jeong-il Moon, it is close from Jamsil Sports Complex. In 1982, it was planned along with Asian Game preparation. Asia Park was also planned for the Game. Park construction took about 1 year and 9 months from August, 1984. Asia Seonsuchon Apartment consists of 1,356 units ranging from 125sqm to 218sqm in floor area, with 130% in overall floor area ratio, divided into 18 apartment buildings which has 9, 12, 15, and 18 floor strips. Low floor area ratio was achieved because this project was competition based. The competition made it possible for architects to propose multi-unit housing which provided solutions to uniform residential area and hostile outdoor space design at the time. The apartment complex is divided in half into east and west by a street that goes through it. In the center, there’re buildings for apartment management, restaurant, and retail for the community, which surrounds the central plaza. Energy saving is achieved by having all the buildings facing either southwest or southeast, and by considering daylight hours in winter solstice.
