Galleria Centercity is the second project Hanwha Galleria ( http://www.hanwhagalleria.co.kr/ ) asked UNStudio ( http://www.unstudio.com/ ) to design their department store. The first one was Galleria West in Apgujeong, Seoul, which shall be covered in next few weeks. Local architect for both Galleria department stores was Gansam Architects & Partners ( http://www.gansam.com/ ).

Facade of Galleria Centercity creates moire effect with two layers of lamellas. Interior was formed of curved platforms stacked on top of each other with a mild variation in radius and location. In a way it was a recreation of Adolf Loos’ idea of theater; seeing and being seen.
