Glass House was designed by Tadao Ando. It’s located in Seobjikoji area in Jeju-do as a part of Pheonix Island Resort. Constructed mostly of exposed concrete, glass, and steel, the building overlooks toward Seongsan-ilchul-bong, a small island nearby. Landscape was designed to match the acute angles forming the building, in turn creating walkways with sharp turns up to the building. First floor is in two parts, gallery and cafe, with space in between the two. It lets you keep visual contact with the sky beyond the void space as you get closer to the building entrance. Also the wind coming through the space surrounds you when you reach the entrance. 2nd floor is designed to maximize its view toward the scenery by elongating the mass to both sides and having columns pulled in and clad with tall glass.
