Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) was designed by Dominique Perrault ( http://www.perraultarchitecte.com/ ) and opened in 2008. Their local architect was Baum Architects ( http://www.baum.co.kr/ ). The building aims to blur the boundaries between architecture and landscape. Two masses are separated by 25m wide 250m long open space which one side is slope and the other side is steps, and the masses are connected below the steps. 10 entrances to the building are located at different levels following the slope or steps. Underneath the landscape there are students service center, career development center/Ewha Institute for Leadership Development, global service center, 41 seminar rooms, art film theater(Art House Momo) with 2 screens and 272 seats, performing arts theater with 716 seats, fitness center, bookstore, bank, cafeteria, etc. By sinking the building below ground, ECC does not disrupt the existing buildings around it, and allows better visual connection to them.
